Somali activist Hindia Ali, the Youth Leadership Development Coordinator at Somali Action Alliance, will represent Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District as a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention this summer in Charlotte.

Democratic-Farm-Labor Party officials believe this is the first Somali-American to be a delegate to a national political convention. Ali has been involved in a number of Somali causes and has testified in front of the Minnesota state legislature and appeared in legislative press conferences.
